Buenos Aires is a necessary gateway to much of Argentina, including some spectacular nature like Iguazu Falls and Chilean Patagonia. Or their beautiful lakes region and wine country. With their domestic flight routing, an Argentina trip usually means flying back through the capital if your itinerary includes multiple more remote destinations. If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Buenos Aires, we really like recommending Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau located in Recoleta.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Location<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Palacio Duhau is located in the Recoleta neighborhood. It\u2019s a nice neighborhood to walk around in and there is also some green space a couple blocks away. The biggest downside with this neighborhood is that it\u2019s a bit far from all the restaurants and bars in Palermo. All the luxury hotels in BA are in Recoleta though, so you kind of have to choose between a nice hotel vs. location in Palermo. We had no problem with this and Uber or Cabify are really easy in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Property <\/strong>and Rooms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The property is separated by a courtyard into two different sides. The palace side and the newer Posadas building. Definitely stay on the palace side if you can, it has so much more character. It seems like a lot of the recent reviews that are more negative for this property are also from people who stayed on the Posadas side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were in the base room on the palace side and didn\u2019t feel like the room was dated or tired at all. Everything was well maintained and comfortable. The room was a lot nicer and way bigger compared to our stay at the \u201cnewer\u201d Hotel Casa Lucia nearby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome gift was a nice bottle of sparkling wine, and some macarons from the patisserie in the hotel!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Food<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You have the option to do either a la carte or buffet for breakfast. The a la carte breakfast is a small menu served at Piano Nobile on the palace side. You can sit on the terrace outside that overlooks the courtyard. The buffet breakfast is served at Gioia in the Posadas building and you can also sit outside in the courtyard which most people opted to do, so outside seats can fill up fast. The buffet breakfast was a lot better and had a good range of selections. Eating breakfast in the courtyard was definitely a highlight of the stay, it\u2019s such a nice escape in the middle of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We didn\u2019t get to try the other F&B outlets while at the hotel but there is a more formal restaurant called Duhau as well as a cigar bar near the lobby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Amenities & Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is a decently sized gym and an awesome indoor pool (for a city hotel) in the basement of the palace building. The sauna in the changing rooms is great too. Service at the hotel was good and we used the concierge to help us make a reservation at Don Julio (online reservations only had outdoor tables).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parting Thoughts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and thought that it lived up to the Park Hyatt brand. For what it\u2019s worth, we also stayed at Casa Lucia and had dinner at the Four Seasons (highly recommend Elena) on this trip and still think Palacio Duhau is one of the best options in Buenos Aires for a luxury stay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
